OPENNESS AND SOCIAL DIVERSITY

The crèche is an integral part of the Foyer Arabelle. As such, it promotes social diversity by welcoming children living in the home as well as those living in the town of Onex.

In a spirit of openness, it offers support for parenthood, without discrimination as to gender, race, origin, culture, religion or social status.

It collaborates with the home's various partners and a number of external contributors such as ASTURAL-Service éducatif itinérant (SEI), the Service de santé de l'enfance et de la jeunesse (SSEJ) and is approved by the Service d'autorisation et de surveillance de l'accueil de jour (SASAJ).

The Foyer Arabelle crèche offers individualized care in a space that's adapted, reassuring and protective for each child, respectful of his or her rhythm and development towards autonomy. So that, day after day, beautiful moments of sharing and trust are created, with the unshakeable conviction that everyone's presence and investment are essential for the children in our care.

How does it work in practice?

  • Opening and closing

The Foyer Arabelle crèche is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.15pm, except during official vacations, May1st and Ascension Day.

It also closes for two days per school year, two weeks during the Christmas holidays and one month during the summer. See the 2023-2024 closure calendar

  • Registration

The allocation of a place depends on well-defined criteria, and registration is only possible once a request has been registered on the centralized Ville d'Onex waiting list ( www.arabelle.ch or www.onex.ch).

Children are cared for according to the attendance rate indicated in the childcare contract. Three types of attendance are possible:

    • Day
    from 07:30 to 18:15
    • Morning with meal and nap
    from 07:30 to 14:30
    • Afternoon without nap
from 2:30 pm to 6:15 pm
  • Welcome and familiarization

Places are allocated according to the child's age range (end of maternity leave to school starting age).

The child's arrival at the Foyer Arabelle crèche is a gradual process of familiarization, which offers a first approach to life in a community and generally takes place over a period of four days, depending on the child's rhythm and needs.

The Foyer Arabelle crèche comprises 3 groups of children spread over two sites:

    • les Roseaux: 0-18 months / 10 places
    • les Yuccas: 18-36 months / 12 places
    • les Bambous: 36 months - Harmos /12 places.

Each group has 7 "external" places for children from Ville d'Onex and 3 to 5 "internal" places for children from Foyer Arabelle.
